I am reading a relationship book and came across this quote by Marjorie Hinckley, I am pretty sure we would have been friends...
"I know it is hard for you young mothers to believe that almost before you can turn around the children will be gone and you will be alone with your husband. You had better be sure you are developing the kind of love and friendship that will be delightful and enduring. Let the children learn from your attitude that he is important. Encourage him. Be kind. It is a rough world, and he, like everyone else, is fighting to survive. Be cheerful. Don't be a whiner."
**Just some deep thoughts as we approach Valentine's day...

toothless
Any of you who have met Kalli know one thing... she always has her tongue out! I thought it would be a little stage, but its lasted quite a few months now. So the other day during her typical exploring she jammed her fingers in the drawer and I saw her open her mouth while the tongue was in and saw a pearly tooth staring at me! I had NO IDEA she was getting a tooth! As most of you know as well- both Keia and Mattix didn't get a tooth until well after a year, so I just figured they would come after she was one. This says two things about my "toothless" daughter (my kids love that movie by the by): *she is that good of a baby that I had now idea a tooth came up and *she has her tongue out that much!!

Sensational Sara
My dear friend Sara Featherstone- you know who you are- took our family pics this past weekend. As you can tell- I didn't plan it out very good- it was spontaneous (hence NO coordinating outfits), but she did such an amazing job- I wanted to post some of the pictures she took! She is amazing and very talented- thank you Slurpee Sara!!

Me: Mattix, do you know how much I love you??
Mattix: No, like 100? (nose scrunched up whenever asking a serious question)
Me: No, like 1000!
Mattix: Whoa... that is a lot!
Okay, seriously?

Pearfect

Mattix is my "shy" child. For awhile I never pressured him to talk to people because he was so young, but now that he is 3 and a half, I didn't think it was asking much for him to say hi back to someone. He loves to hide behind my legs and if anyone is giving him too much attention- he will start to get a pouty face. I tried so many things- on his behavior chart- I had him earn circles when he would say hi back to someone- or if someone asked him his name, he actually would tell them. Well, he wasn't earning very many circles- and I would literally go down on his level and talk about it with him in front of the person who was trying to talk to him. Anywho- I was starting to get frustrated because everyone would love to comment to me- 'Oh, someone isn't happy today, or Does somebody need a nap?" NO- he is shy!!! I started doing some research and did a ton of reading- to discover that I was at fault. I was putting too much pressure on him and I need to appreciate that he is shy. After being humbled, I got up to cut Mattix a pear, he loves pears. I pulled the sticker off and the skin always comes off with it. I started laughing to myself... Mattix is my pear. He is very sensitive, but extremely sweet on the inside. I have now learned that my son's feelings are more important than the way others view him, and I think he is PEARfect!

It's all right....

...cause I'm Saved by the Bell.
Matt and I dressed up as AC Slater and Jesse Spano. It was funny because at our ward Trunk-o-Treat, the older peeps had no idea who we were, and the YOUNGER 20's had no idea!! It was crazy- so then we went to my friend from High School's party and everyone knew who we were!! I think it helped when I said: "I am so excited, I am so excited, I am soo scared."
Keia wanted to be a witch this year, not a princess- shocker!! Thanks to her friend Tori- we made it happen!
Mattix was our ninja- Matt said that is what he wanted to be every year- so we started him young this year.

6 Months
"Every home should have a 6 month old baby, just for entertainment value. Chortling, responsive, feet in the mouth, reaching, grabbing- and still too little to climb into trouble or talk back! -Dr. Spock (guru of all pediatricians)
Kalli's 6 Month Stats: *16lbs 12oz *26 1/2inches
Kalli is still the best baby ever (for us). Her favorite thing is to sit on our bed and watch Keia & Mattix do flips- she laughs soo hard! This poor third child gets woken up everyday from naps to take her brother and sister places, but never cries about it. She has been sitting up since the end of her fourth month, and is now putting her face on the ground trying to scoot forward. Kalli at this point wants NOTHING to do with solids, we will try again next month =).
Check out these rolls, lets just say that Keia was 20lbs at one year and Kalli is almost 17lbs- hence why I am not too worried about her not liking solds.

Keia the Kindergartener
Keia was Star Student this week- I know everyone was dying to know this... however I have been meaning to write about Keia starting school. I really like her teacher and Keia for the most part likes school. I am volunteering on Fridays and love it probably a little too much. Anywho- here are some pics of my first child going to school... love it!! Keia with her teacher, Ms. Contreras

Thurdy Rocks
It is official, I am now 30 years old. There was a time in my life where I seriously dreaded turning 30, but within the past year I have come to realize that the thirties are going to be the best! The twenties are all about trying to figure it all out- who am I going to marry, where are we going to live, what job should we do, yadda, yadda. Now at our thirties, we have all those things figured out and I am feeling great!! I am excited to conquer new goals and step it up. I am excited to enter the next phase with our kids-sports, family vacations without pack-n-plays & diapers... the thirties are going to rock. Now for my actual birthday- I was extremely sick, my kids were sick the week before and just when I thought I was in the clear- it knocked me down. Now, for a control freak such as myself- the old me would have been really upset that I was soo sick on my birthday and had to cancel beach plans with friends and a massage scheduled- I couldn't even answer my phone from friends and family because my throat hurt so bad to talk. I actually handled it pretty well-but did shed a tear or two. I don't do well with being sick- I value my health and don't expect this from my body-but we made the best of it and I still had my trip to San Francisco to look forward to. My birthday was Monday and we were leaving Thursday for our trip. The morning we were leaving, my head was still achy and my nose wouldn't give up, then Kalli was showing signs of sickness- I called Matt to see if we should just cancel- but I decided to go for it and I am sooo glad we did. So with one pink eye, a faucet nose, and no make-up on we headed to Nor-cal. We had the best time staying with Matt's sister Erika and the fam. They are soo much fun to be with and made my birthday soo special. The next day we took the BART to San Francisco to spend the day with our good friend from college- Jer. He literally took us all over SF, I LOVE it there!!! I won't bore you with everything we saw- but it was amazing- especially the food!! I just love seeing new places and how other people live. I still think we live in the best city in the world- but I did enjoy SF and how environmentally conscience everyone was. Anywho- here are a few pics from our trip... and I just want to thank everyone for your calls, cards, and texts for my big day- I was seriously feeling the love...Thurdy rocks as Hay would say!!! My yummy Organic Dark Chocolate cake with the cutest nieces in the world!
Notice the Bridge...we are soo cool.
Matt & Jer
Wow, I am so mature now that I am 30...right.

Kalli's Blessing
We just returned from Vegas where we did Kalli's blessing. Matt did a beautiful job and the whole weekend was so much fun. We have the best family... including Matt's sista who took these pictures for us!! Once again we feel very blessed to have our baby Kalli- she is the happiest baby. I love her big eyes and sweet personality.
